Twit TV

Twit TV is the brainchild of Leo Laporte of Call For Help fame from the now defunct Tech TV channel. The site acts an extension of a show he now hosts on Canadian network station G4TV. The site provides coverage of technological devices and new trends and seeks to help people understand what's going on in the world of technology. Twit TV also hosts a live nightly streams of interesting content that Leo Laporte and co-host AmberMac discover and discuss.

Total Score: 15/20

Twit TV isn the most cutting edge of shows, rather then call this a video site I would say this is closer to a podcast. The site has a few rough edges, navigation is a little clunky and the overall video experience is a little rough around the edges to the point where users are drive towards the live podcast rather then the video on demand content (VOD). The site requires you to have a basic knowledge of computers and technology to really understand the content and programming. So if you're not interested in technology, this site most likely will not be of value or of interest to you. Where as if your concerned and interested and entertained by technological trends and the going-ons of software and hardware, you will find Twit TV fascinating. Check it out if this sounds like something you would fancy.

Sesame Street Videos for Kids

Seasame Street Video is a video site for kids, featuring clips from Sesame Street episodes and exclusive content just for the web. There's a lot of videos on here, and the one thing pops out of you is the sheer volume of celebrities that have been on Sesame Street throughout the ages. The site is devoid completely of ads, except for a few small links to their own content and to the Sesame Street Store, but there are no other ads on the site since it is in fact geared towards kids.

Navigation is pretty simple allowing visitors to navigate by subject, view all, by character or song. They have just about every famous or well known Sesame Street clip on the site, and I was excited to find an old time classic, they don't provide a simple way to embed the videos possibly because there aren't a great deal of infants and children with websites and blogs of their own (at least not to my knowledge), a little mustering and here's what I was looking at:

Sesame Street Videos is exactly what you'd want a kids video site to look like and operate. The design and colours are very trendy (web 2.0) and yet it still operates easily enough for kids to play around and use. The videos are fast loading and unlike many mainstream video sites, are open to anyone regardless of geographic limit. The content is varied and diverse, and spans back throughout the entire series from as far back as the 60s from what I can tell. This is an exceptional site done really well, and very few bells and whistles added to make things as simple as possible. If you have a toddler or just want to reconnect with some of your childhood favourites - check out Sesame Street's Video section.

Weapon Videos - Point Click Fire

Weapon Videos
Weapon Videos, the not so creatively titled site, houses a collection of weapon related videos mostly a display of the firepower and use of rifles, pistols and gun accessories. Not being into Kalashnikovas and the likes they have me at a disadvantage, the site looks good initially but has a few problems with the actual use of the site.

For starters, clicking on any video goes to the video page, but no video is displayed. Instead you see a rather long list of possibly ebay items available to buy on the right side. But this is misleading, as the video does appear, only it's closer to the bottom requiring you to scroll down a pretty much empty page until you find the embedded video player (which is set to automatically play and thus by the time the user realizes the video actually is there, it's probably already started playing and in a few seconds or minutes).

The variety of videos is decent, but the quantity leaves much to be desired with a grand total of just slightly over 230 videos as of the time of this review. For a site boasting itself as the pinnacle of weapon video information, it's a bold claim that the site hasn't yet lived up to.

The Overall Ratings for Weapon Videos:
Show Diversity: (3/5)
Based on the mixture of television shows available on the site.
Loading Speed: (4/5)
The time taken to navigate the site and load videos.
Ease of Navigation: (2/5)

Weapon Videos isn't all that bad, but it's not all that great either. The site could offer more videos, but it's not entirely empty or devoid of content. The main detractor of the site is the formatting and layout which deliberately makes the user scroll down to view the video - leaving blank space and ads in place of where the video should be displayed. The site could easily be brought up to snuff if it would just make the few adjustments mentioned above.

Web MD Health Videos

Web MD Health Videos offers a huge collection of medical, disease prevention and health related videos on a number of ailments and diseases. The site is really quite nice with a minimal amount of ads, which makes it a good resource to use to diagnose your own symptoms. There's a good number of videos but unfortunately video playback is a little slow with ads sometimes injected before selected videos being played.

The videos are generally really good quality explaining the issues, and giving resolutions and more video insight into how to deal with it.

Web MD Health Videos has a lot to offer, and the site has long been a staple in many American homes as a resource and possible pre-solution to going to a doctor. With the addition of videos, Web MD Health has significantly improved and brought health right into users home - allowing them to better understand and comprehend serious medical conditions that required previous education or level of understanding relegated in the past to doctors and physicians.
